IndustryNext fielded an extremely strong solution. They focused on using different layers of collaborative filtering on content, and more innovatively, friends.
Like AKQA’s solution, IndustryNext chose to create an environment where content from other internet services can be shared.
Each parent and child can rate both different categories of content, as well as friends. Because parents need to be gatekeepers, their ratings of both friends and content is weighted more heavily than the ratings of the children, or the children’s friends.
Any piece of content (a ”skitty”) that is shared that doesn’t meet a minimum score gets held in a queue for the parent to review. All in all, a great idea!
